Brothers Brewery Series tells stories about the love life and journeys for 3
Donovan children: Eric, Jamie, and Tessa Donovan. Each Donovan’s got their own
story to tell, so there are total 3 books and 1 short story in the series. The
Brewery named by their father in honor of his late brother, is the glue for all
these three children after their parents passed away. All the books in the
series are adult novels, not suitable for anyone under 18 years old. And it
will be best to read in their orders, either starting from Good Girls Don’t or starting
from the short story Just One Taste to avoid any confusion or
spoilers while reading them.

oleh ayah mereka dan dinamakan untuk mengenang paman mereka (adik laki-laki
dari ayah mereka). Pabrik itu pula yang menjadi penyatu ketiga bersaudara ini
setelah kematian kedua orang tua mereka. Semua buku dalam serial ini merupakan
novel yang ditujukan bagi orang dewasa, dan tidak cocok untuk dibaca bagi
siapapun yang berumur di bawah 18 tahun. Dan aku sarankan sebaiknya membaca serial
ini secara berurutan, dapat dimulai dari Good Girls Don’t atau dari cerita pendeknya Just One Taste

Good Girls Don’t
sets in Boulder, Colorado. The love story is between Tessa Donovan, younger
sister and co-owner of Donovan Brothers Brewery, with Luke Asher, a police
detective who just moved back to Boulder after his divorce with his ex-wife. Tessa
met with Luke when he comes to the Brewery to investigate a robbery that
happens the night before. Luke is one of her older brother’s friend from
university.
But it’s hard to have
any relationship especially with Tessa have two older brothers, who think she’s
still a pure and naïve virgin, and always scary away the guys that makes a move
towards her. Little that her brothers know, that Tessa isn’t that naïve little
girl anymore...
Meanwhile Luke is
battling his past reputation and the rumors going around about him and his
partner detective, Simone, who is pregnant without telling everyone who the
father is. Everyone thinks it’s Luke, and he didn’t do anything to stop the
rumors since he didn’t want to put another pressure for his partner. But when
doing the investigations for the robbery case at the Brewery, Luke just cannot
deny and resisted his strong feelings for Tessa, despite of her brothers and
everyone else thinks of him…
Good Girls Don’t
is quite interesting contemporary chicklit romance with a bit of mystery in it.
The characters of Tessa and Luke is not a perfect person with so much flaws and
issues that they need to deal with throughout the series. It is also
interesting to see a family with so much issues and problems, but yet somehow
they managed to stay strong together. This family issues are the main focus for
the whole series. If you find the characters a bit annoying, my advice is just
bear with them until the whole series, it is part of their journey in dealing
with whatever baggage of problems they have and part of their growing up
process. In the end, you won’t be disappointed by the whole stories.

kisah cinta antara Tessa Donovan, adik termuda di keluarga Donovan dan salah
satu pemilik dari perusahaan penyulingan bir Donovan Brothers Brewery, dengan
Luke Asher, seorang detektif polisi yang baru pindah kembali ke Boulder setelah
perceraiannya dengan mantan istrinya. Tessa bertemu kembali dengan Luke saat
Luke datang untuk menyelidiki peristiwa perampokan yang terjadi malam
sebelumnya di pabrik. Luke merupakan salah satu teman kuliah dari kakak Tessa.
Tessa
sedikit sulit menjalin hubungan serius dengan para pria tanpa adanya campur
tangan dari kedua kakaknya, yang masih berpikir bahwa adik kecilnya ini masih

semua pria yang tertarik kepadanya. Padahal tidak seperti sangkaan kedua

Sementara
itu Luke juga sedang berperang dengan reputasi buruk Luke di masa lalu yang
masih terus membayanginya dan juga segala gossip miring yang beredar mengenai
dirinya dengan partner detektifnya, Simone yang sedang hamil tua tanpa
diketahui siapa ayah dari bayi yang di kandungnya. Semua orang berpikir bahwa
Luke merupakan ayah dari bayi yang di kandung Simone, dan Luke juga memang
tidak berusaha meredakan rumor tersebut dengan bersikap diam karena ia tidak
mau membebani tambahan tekanan kepada Simone. Tetapi dengan berjalannya proses
penyelidikan untuk kasus perampokan pabrik Donovan, Luke tidak dapat menampik
perasaan dan ketertarikannya yang semakin kuat terhadap Tessa, walaupun semua
orang termasuk kakak Tessa menentang hubungan mereka…
Good
Girls Don’t cukup menarik, dengan nuansa cerita cinta chicklit yang
modern dengan sedikit sentuhan misteri didalamnya. Karakter utamanya Tessa dan
Luke juga bukan manusia yang sempurna dengan banyaknya kekurangan dan masalah
yang harus mereka hadapi untuk bertumbuh sepanjang serial ini. Menurutku cukup
menarik dapat melihat cerita mengenai sebuah keluarga yang cukup solid walaupun
mempunyai banyak sekali isu dan masalah yang harus mereka hadapi bersama untuk
dapat menjaga keluarga mereka agar tetap kuat dan utuh. Masalah keluarga yang
mereka hadapi merupakan fokus utama di dalam keseluruhan seri novel ini. Mungkin
awalnya terasa para karakternya sedikit menyebalkan, tapi saranku adalah tetap
sabar dalam membacanya sampai selesai, karena semuanya itu merupakan bagian
dari proses perkembangan cerita para karakternya dan perjalanan mereka dalam menyelesaikan
keseluruhan masalah yang mereka punya. Secara keseluruhan cerita yang ditampilkan
tidak terlalu mengecewakan.

Boulder, Colorado after the ending of Good Girls Do. Jamie Donovan basically the
black sheep in the family, a wild child in his younger years. No matter what he
tried to do to prove and redeem himself to his family, that reputation sticks.
Jamie is frustrated since his perfect older brother, Eric, didn’t give him more
responsibility in the Brewery. Jamie wants to expand the Brewery into a Food
Bar, but without a solid planning and presentation, he won’t be able to
convincing both Eric and Tessa to make the expansion. So Jamie decided to take
a summer course in a community class of a local campus, where he met with
Olivia.
Olivia Bishop is a
teacher in Jamie’s summer course, and a few years older than him. With the age
difference and their different personality, Olivia didn’t think that their
relationship would work at first, especially when she’s just got out of a nasty
divorce from her annoying ex-husband. But their strong feelings and attractions
towards one another is not something that Olivia can fight anymore. And for
once in her life, she must be brave enough to step up and take control of her
own life to make her own happy ending.
Bad Boys Do is quite
good in tearing up your emotions. Jamie is so misunderstood by both his brother
and sister. I really like Jamie’s and Olivia’s character in this book, they
make a perfect romantic couple that complement each other. The story is romantic
and sweet, but also contains some depth and seriousness at the same time with a
lot of family drama. But I don’t like Eric’s character in this book, he’s such
a jerk.

Tidak peduli apapun yang ia coba lakukan untuk membuktikan dirinya kepada keluarganya,

Bishop adalah guru dalam kursus yang diikuti oleh Jamie musim panas itu, dan wanita
yang lebih tua beberapa tahun dari Jamie. Dengan perbedaan umur yang ada dan
kepribadian yang sangat berbeda, awalnya Olivia tidak menduga bahwa hubungan
mereka akan langgeng, apalagi ditambah dengan kerumitan dari proses perceraian
yang baru saja selesai di jalaninya dengan mantan suaminya yang menyebalkan. Tetapi
hubungan perasaan dan ketertarikan yang sangat kuat antara keduanya tidak dapat

cukup menarik dan akan mengaduk-aduk emosi dan perasaan saat membacanya. Jamie benar-benar
salah dimengerti oleh kedua kakak dan adiknya. Aku cukup menyukai karakter dari
Jamie dan Olivia, mereka benar-benar pasangan yang serasi dan sempurna yang
saling melengkapi satu sama lainnya. Cerita ini cukup romantis dan manis, namun
juga mengandung makna yang lebih mendalam dan serius secara bersamaan dengan
banyaknya drama antara hubungan keluarga yang ditampilkan di sini. Namun aku benar-benar
tidak menyukai karakter dari kakak Jamie, Eric di sini. Ia benar-benar menjadi
(maaf sebelumnya) seorang bajingan di sini.

Just One Taste is a prequel story to Donovan Brothers
Brewery Series. It tells the first meeting between Eric Donovan and Beth
Cantrell at a Business Convention. This short story is part of an anthology
book with two other authors with title The Guy Next Door. It is advisable to read
this short story before you reading the last book Real Men Will, or before start
reading the series from the first book, Good Girls Don’t.

is following both Eric and Beth when they met for the second time after their
secret hot rendezvous several months ago.
When Beth finally
found out that her one-night stand six months ago isn’t with Jamie Donovan, but
with his older brother, Eric Donovan, she’s furious with his lied. But she
still cannot forget their strong chemistry every time they’re together. Eric
will do anything to redeem himself for his mistake and get another chance to
gain Beth’s trust. With the more time they spent together, they grew closer and
starting to get to know each other better, while working out to solve their own
family problem.
There’s not much I can
say about Real
Men Will, besides I don’t like Eric’s character at all, he’s just
acting like a jerk the whole time with his family and also with Beth. While Jamie,
Eric’s brother, also acting like a jerk with all the family drama fighting with
Eric all the time. And I’m thinking that he’s supposed to be a little more grown
up after all that happened in Bad Boys Do. So for me Real Men Will didn’t strike something
special for me while reading it. Not completely a waste of my precious time
since all the family drama and issues are solved in the end, but also nothing
special either.

Beth Cantrell : Manager of White Orchid, a lingerie and
sex shop in Boulder.
Jamie Donovan : Eric’s younger brother, the wild child and
black sheep of the family, in charge with promotion for the Brewery.
Tessa Donovan : Eric’s and Jamie’s little sister, the
youngest of the Donovans, in charge with the book keeping and accounting for
the Brewery.
Luke Asher : Tessa’s boyfriend, a police detective in
Boulder, in charge with a robbery and fraud case that happens in Boulder
several months ago.
Olivia Bishop : Jamie’s girlfriend.
Michael Donovan : Eric, Jamie and Tessa’s late father, the
founder of Donovan Brothers Brewery, died in a car accident with his wife
thirteen years ago.
Cairo : one of Beth’s friend and employee at White
Orchid.
Harrison : one of Cairo’s boyfriend.
Rex : one of Cairo’s other boyfriend.
Davis : one of Cairo’s friend that date with Beth
several times.
Wallace Hood : Production Manager and Master Brewer at
the Donovan Brothers Brewery.
Faron : a married woman that Wallace fall in love
with.
Roland Kendall : a successful businessman in Boulder, owner
of Kendall Group.

berlatar belakang kota Boulder, Colorado. Cerita dalam buku ini terjadi enam
bulan setelah cerita dalam Just One Taste (cerita pendek mengenai
pertemuan pertama Eric dengan Beth di dalam buku lainnya yang juga memuat
cerita dari dua pengarang lain, The Guy Next Door), dan terjadi setelah akhir
cerita dalam Bad
Boys Do. Dalam buku ini diceritakan mengenai pertemuan selanjutnya
dari Eric dan Beth setelah kencan rahasia mereka beberapa bulan sebelumnya.
Saat
Beth akhirnya mengetahui bahwa kencan kilatnya enam bulan lalu bukan dengan Jamie
Donovan, tetapi dengan kakak laki-lakinya, Eric Donovan, ia menjadi sangat
marah karena sudah dibohongi. Tetapi tetap saja Beth tidak dapat melupakan
koneksi yang sangat kuat yang ia rasakan kepada Eric setiap kali mereka
bersama. Eric berusaha dengan segala cara untuk menebus kesalahannya dan
mendapatkan kesempatan kedua untuk mendapatkan kepercayaan dari Beth. Dengan sejalannya
waktu yang mereka habiskan bersama-sama, akhirnya mereka mulai menjadi dekat
dan saling mengenal kepribadian mereka yang sesungguhnya, sambil mencoba
menyelesaikan masalah keluarga mereka masing-masing.
Tidak
ada banyak hal yang dapat aku katakan mengenai Real Men Will, kecuali aku sama
sekali sangat tidak menyukai karakter dari Eric, dia bersikap seperti seorang
(maaf sebelumnya) bajingan sepanjang buku ini, baik dengan keluarganya maupun
dengan Beth. Adik Eric, Jamie juga tidak lebih baik dengan terus memancing
pertengkaran keluarga sepanjang waktu, padahal aku pikir kalau sebelumnya ia
sudah menjadi lebih dewasa di Bad Boys Do. Jadi bagiku Real Men Will tidak menimbulkan
sesuatu yang special bagiku selama membacanya. Walaupun tidak sepenuhnya
membuang-buang waktuku dalam membacanya, karena pada akhirnya semua drama dalam
keluarga dan semua masalah yang ada terpechakan pada akhirnya, tapi jalan
ceritanya terasa tidak ada yang benar-benar spesial juga.
