like typical Chicklit novel : silly, hilarious, annoying and cliché at the same
time. The Heroine character, Lizzie really has a bad judgement when it comes to
boyfriend material. The witty humor quite entertaining and can crack a few
smile now and then. The Queen Of Babble maybe not too great, but
still an OK light reading.

Queen Of Babble menceritakan kisah

finding an affordable and decent apartment in New York to share with her best
friend Shari is gonna be really difficult, let alone to find a job in Fashion
Industry. Sure that she gets to stay temporary with Luke in his mother’s
apartment in the Fifth Avenue, but she has to find a paying job soon if she
didn’t want to be back to her hometown.
Queen Of Babble In The Big City starts two months after the ending of the first book Queen Of Babble.
Sets in New York City in early September, and
the story ends in early January the following year (on New Year morning to be
exact). A lot is happening in Queen Of Babble
In The Big City, and I have a lot of mix feelings about this book. I like the wedding
gown guide opening for every chapters. I also like the first part of the book,
it’s hilarious and funny, especially when Lizzie got non-paying job at Chez
Henri, but after that everything turns ugly.
For one thing, that this book really
destroyed the happy ever after ending in the first book, and also the character
growth for all four main characters are very disappointing. In Queen Of Babble
In The Big City, the main focus of the story is about Lizzie’s
journey to established her career doing what she loves the most. Sure I love
that Lizzie finally could achieve success and recognition in her works restoring vintage wedding gown in the end, but I’m
definitely not happy about her storyline with Luke, and also the storyline of
Shari and Chaz. I get it that in the real world, life is not a fairy tale and
people can grow and change, especially young people, but seriously I don’t
understand why the author just can destroy all the main characters like that.
Sure I’m not a fan of Lizzie, I find her a little bit annoying and insecure,
but I really love Luke’s, Shari’s and Chaz’s characters in the first book. It’s a shame really
how they’re all turn out to be by the end of Queen Of Babble In The City.

bagian-bagian awal dari buku ini, terasa lucu dan menggelitik terutama saat
Lizzie mendapatkan pekerjaan tanpa gaji di Chez Henri. Tetapi setelah itu,
semuanya berubah menjadi sangat buruk.
Satu hal yang sangat buruk adalah buku kedua ini
benar-benar menghancurkan akhir bahagia
di buku pertamanya. Dan yang paling buruknya adalah perkembangan karakter dari
keempat tokoh utamanya terasa sangat sangat mengecewakan. Dalam Queen Of Babble In The Big City, cerita lebih banyak berfokus pada pengalaman Lizzie dalam rangka mencapai karir yang dicita-citakannya dengan melakukan hal
yang paling ia minati. Tentu saja aku senang bahwa Lizzie akhirnya mencapai suksesnya dan pengakuan yang dicarinya dalam
pekerjaannya menyelamatkan gaun-gaun pengantin lama, tetapi aku kurang suka dengan jalan cerita cinta antara Lizzie dan
Luke, serta Shari dan Chaz. Aku mengerti
bahwa memang di dunia nyata, kehidupan itu bukanlah cerita dongeng dan tentu
saja orang dapat bertumbuh dan berubah, terutama bagi orang-orang muda yang
masih mencari jati diri, tapi aku gagal untuk paham mengapa pengarang buku ini
memutuskan untuk menghancurkan para karakter utama di dalam buku ini menjadi
seperti itu. Memang dari awal aku bukan penggemar karakter Lizzie yang menurutku
cukup menyebalkan dan selalu merasa tidak aman. Tetapi aku benar-benar menyukai
karakter lainnya seperti Luke, Shari dan Chaz di dalam buku pertamanya. Sangat benar-benar disayangkan bahwa akhirnya mereka berubah menjadi
karakter yang sangat buruk di akhir cerita dari Queen Of Babble In The City.

Queen Of Babble Gets Hitched starts just when Queen Of Babble
In The Big City left off, on January, on that fateful New Year morning, and ends around a year later. Sets in
New York City and a bit in Ann Harbor, Michigan.
If you thought that the second book is bad, please don’t hold your
breath, because Queen
Of Babble Gets Hitched is worse. I usually love Meg Cabot’s books,
but this time I just can’t say the same. I hate all the characters’
developments and I hate the storyline, it’s just silly and absurd. It is so not
cool to make Shari’s and Luke’s characters turns disappointing like that, just
to justify the relationship between Lizzie and Chaz. Lizzie’s character is
still annoying like always, and I really hate her in this third book. I just
can’t see the chemistry between Lizzie and Chaz in the previous books that
could lead to love. And for one thing, I really don’t support cheating, so it’s
a big no no for me to even like this book. So sorry, I won’t recommend for you
to read this series. If you already read the first book, better just stop there
and don’t even bother to read all the sequels.

Januari, di pagi Tahun Baru, dan berakhir lebih dari satu tahun kemudian. Berlatar belakang kota New York dan juga di
Ann Harbor, Michigan.
Jika kau berpikir bahwa buku sebelumnya Queen Of
Babble In The Big City kurang bagus, tolong jangan berharap terlalu banyak di
buku terakhir dari seri ini, karena Queen Of Babble Gets Hitched ini lebih buruk
lagi. Aku biasanya menyukai buku-buku Meg Cabot lainnya, tapi maaf sekali kali
ini aku tidak bisa melakukannya. Aku benci seluruh perkembangan para karakter
di dalamnya, dan aku juga benci jalan ceritanya, sangat terasa konyol dan tidak
masuk di akal. Sangat mengecewakan melihat karakter Shari dan Luke di buat
menjadi seperti itu hanya untuk membenarkan hubungan yang dijalin antara Lizzie
dengan Chaz. Karakter Lizzie masih sangat menyebalkan seperti sebelumnya, dan aku
sangat membenci karakternya di buku ketiganya ini. Aku juga tidak dapat melihat
adanya reaksi kimia apapun antara Lizzie dan Chaz di dalam buku-buku sebelumnya
yang dapat menjelaskan mengapa mereka bisa saling jatuh cinta. Dan satu hal
yang paling penting, aku paling tidak mendukung perselingkuhan, jadi itu
merupakan hal yang paling membuat aku semakin tidak menyukai buku ini. Jadi
dengan sangat menyesal, aku tidak akan merekomendasikan siapapun untuk membaca
serial Queen Of Babble ini. Jika kau sudah membeli atau membaca buku
pertamanya, aku sarankan sebaiknya cukup stop sampai di situ saja dan tidak
perlu repot-repot untuk membaca buku-buku lanjutannya.
